SUMMARY:Guys on Ice - An Ice Fishing Musical
DESCRIPTION:Historic Holmes Theatre\, 806 Summit Ave\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501\, USA \n\n\nYou’ve seen them. Little wooden shanties sitting on lake ice. Puffs of smoke rising from chimney pipes. On a quiet day\, maybe the static of a tinny radio filters through plywood walls\, across the frozen tundra\, back to shore. In a cold world\, on a cold day\, on a frozen lake\, these little signs of life are all most people know of a secret culture that thrives right here amongst us. Guys on Ice spends a day in the life of Marvin and Lloyd — fishing buddies and home-grown philosophers – a somewhat twisted take on the secret world of ice fisherman. With musical numbers like\, “The Wishing Hole\,” “Ode to a Snowmobile Suit\,” “Fish is the Miracle Food” and “The One That Got Away\,” Guys on Ice works not only as a serious anthropological study but as a musical comedy as well. \nAdults $33 and Students $13 \nGET TICKETS \nSeason tickets on sale August 10 – Individual tickets on sale August 17 \n

All classes are final sale unless event is canceled. \n \nMeet Your Teacher: Leona Rogers \n \nMy journey into becoming a paper flower artist began with using books\, photos\, online tutorials\, and deconstructing real flowers\, to create many different varieties of blooms. I use German and Italian crepe paper\, watercolors\, pan pastels\, acrylics\, and markers\, on my flowers. Some flowers are very specific reproductions of true nature\, others are lively\, joyful\, and completely fanciful. I also have created large wallflowers\, that are perfect for decorating and special occasions. \nWhy do I teach? It is a joy for me to make flowers from crepe and I think others would enjoy it too. Students become “Makers” and create their own blooms and see the possibility of making something beautiful with their hands.
