Project Overview

We are preparing for the next 25 years! We’ll be renewing and updating aging facilities and systems like our weight room, pool area and equipment while supporting innovative and expanded programming. By doing this, we’ll strengthen a proven community-built asset that ensures a safe, welcoming, and accessible space for all!

History and Need

The Fitness and Aquatics portion of the Detroit Lakes Community Center opened in December of 2001, with the Historic Holmes Theatre not too far behind, opening in May of 2002. We have had millions of check-ins since then, with people from Detroit Lakes as well as visitors from all over our region, state, country and internationally. We have made and continue to make an impact in the lives of our members and guests through opportunities to learn, grow and play-physically, culturally and socially. We invite you to join us as we look to continue making an impact for the next 25 years.

Testimonials

“We are incredibly grateful for the DLCCC, which as been a part of our lives for the past 2 years. From exercising and playing pickleball, bringing first our children and now our grandchildren to the backyard and swimming pool, to enjoying top rate theater performances. The DLCCC has provided a place for our family to grow, stay healthy and connect with others. As one of the most visited spots in our community, it truly is an asset to all and one that we greatly appreciate.”

-Ken & Helen Foltz, Former DLCCC Board Chair and local business owners.

“I learned to swim as an adult at the DLCCC which was very empowering and have gone on to participate in triathlons-something I never thought possible“

-Anonymous

“The DLCCC has played a tremendous role in my life, as well as the lives of my wife and kids. The fitness center is my personal “stress relief” area, while the theatre has been instrumental in shaping the cultural landscape for me and my family. I seriously couldn’t imagine DL without this amazing asset in our community.”

Craig Koep, DLCCC Board Member and local banker.

A Message from our CEO

The future of the Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center is bright! As we enter 2026, I’m looking at my time so far with immense gratitude-to the members that utilize the programming and services, to the gracious individuals and businesses that give and understand our impact on community, to the staff who passionately build and innovate for you.

2026 will be our 25th year of operation and I’m excited to announce our 25 year, Growing Together Capital Campaign-an important project to continue making the DLCCC a proud piece of the Detroit Lakes community.

You are an important piece of this continued success. Whether you or a family member participates in our programs, supports our mission, or makes the decision to give in support of our projects, it’s the generosity that makes the DLCCC so successful.

The 25 Year, Growing Together Capital Campaign will look to address our facility needs, setting us up for innovative growth in the next 25 years. I ask you to join us in making a gift to the DLCCC, in support of this project and the continued success of our programs, services, and facility.

Whatever give or commitment you are able to make is important to this campaign-gifts of every size are appreciated and impact our success! Together, we can continue making the DLCCC an important and impactful piece of the community. Join me in getting the DLCC to our $2,500,000 goal!
