As a young child growing up in Detroit Lakes\, MN\, she was encouraged to create art by her family. Her art emphasizes the beauty of nature\, depicting natural surroundings while capturing moments in time. Inspired by local scenery\, her award-winning art reflects the moods created by the changing seasons and our glorious outdoors. Select art of Val’s is available in Detroit Lakes Floral inside the Washington Square Mall. She currently teaches acrylic and oil painting classes through Detroit Lakes Community Education and Holmes Art Cellar. You may find Val participating in Street Fair at the Lakes\, Holmes Art Show\, in Detroit Lakes\, along with Island Park Show\, in Fargo\, ND\, and other art events and shows in and around the area. \n \nAnna Lassonde \nJollybird Studios \nWww.jollybirdstudio.com \nGreystone Hotel\, 119 Graystone Plaza\, Suite 106l Suite 106\, Detroit Lakes MN 56501 \nPublic Restroom\, Handicap Accessible\, Street Parking \nAnna Lassonde is an artist\, illustrator\, and art educator and the heart behind Jollybird Studio. She works in watercolor\, acrylic\, drawing\, clay\, and mixed media\, creating art inspired by animals\, nature\, and everyday connection. She’s especially known for her pet portraits\, which focus on personality\, expression\, and a sense of warmth and whimsy. Since starting her art business in 2019\, Anna has illustrated children’s books\, painted murals\, and taught art to all ages. She believes art should feel welcoming and accessible\, and her goal is simple: to make work that brings a little joy\, tells a story\, and helps people feel connected. Jollybird Studio now has a new location and Anna would be thrilled if you came to check it out! \n  \n \nLinda Beilke \nLinda Beilke Arts \nHost: Washington Square Mall\, 808 Washington Ave\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501 \nPublic Restroom\, Handicap Accessible\, Parking Lot \nLinda Beilke is a painter whose detailed and expressive artwork explores nature: botanicals\, birds\, animals\, and landscapes\, in addition to figurative and portraiture. Her 2-dimensional work is done through a variety of media\, often layering inks\, graphite\, and water media: watercolor\, acrylic\, inks\, and gouache. Living in Detroit Lakes\, she draws inspiration from the changing seasons and the amazing beauty in the lakes area. She has also been inspired by working with her many students\, helping them find a unique vision and voice within their art. Linda holds a BFA in Visual Arts with a concentration in drawing and painting\, and a BS in Art Education from Moorhead State University. Using these degrees\, Linda has taught for 40 years in K-12 visual arts. In addition\, she was a gallery director\, professional art consultant\, art education director\, and art judge on many levels. Linda has exhibited at a variety of galleries and public facilities. She has been accepted into juried art shows and won artist awards. She is also involved in many artist organizations where she has continued to promote visual arts and explore new media and techniques through taking and teaching workshops and visual art challenges. \n \nDeb Anderson \n29429 130th St\, Frazee MN \nNo Restroom\, Handicap Accessible\, Driveway Parking \nMy watercolors are the response of joy that I experience as I contemplate the blessings of shape\, color\, texture\, and light. I find inspiration for my artwork in nature and the rural landscape. When I see shapes and colors that give me pleasure I want to hold those fleeting images that enlarge my soul and the paintbrush is my tool to accomplish that. My hope as I explore new subjects and techniques is that my eyes will see shape and light more clearly; my hand will translate the vision that I’ve received; and my heart will be open to beauty wherever it may be found. I am self-taught and consider a number of local artists as my mentors. \n     \nKurt Anderson \nTossed and Turned Wood \nEtsy.com/shop/tossedandturnedwood \n29429 130th St\, Frazee MN \nNo Restroom\, Handicap Accessible\, Driveway Parking \nI refer to my turning venture as Tossed and Turned. I have been turning wood since 2001. I try to mostly use discarded\, donated or scavenged wood for my art – thus “tossed” and then “turned”. I find immense satisfaction and relaxation from the hours of time spent unveiling the beauty that God has wrapped in and around various trees. Each piece of wood has something to show you. Some pieces are very basic while others are very out-of-the-box interesting. I approach each turning with an open mind and a flexible plan\, as sometimes my bowl really wants to be a plate. One can force a design\, but often at the expense of missing the very gift that the wood wants to display. Leaving bark\, holes\, various indications of wear\, time and struggle\, against areas of finished\, smooth\, and polished surfaces remind me of life. Collectively\, they make us who we are and how we are presented to the rest of the world. \n \nChristine Becker \nCrisp Bean Art \nhttps://www.instagram.com/crispbeanart/ \nHost: Bucks Mill Brewing \n824 Washington Ave\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501 \nPublic Restroom\, Handicap Accessible\, Parking Lot/Street Parking \nChristine Becker is a painter located in Detroit Lakes\, MN. She is drawn to the weird\, colorful\, emotional side of being human. Her work mixes playful characters\, surreal landscapes\, and bright psychedelic color palettes to explore themes of resilience\, sensitivity\, and transformation. Influenced by nature\, dreams\, folk and pop imagery\, and personal symbolism\, Becker builds visual worlds where smiling clouds cry rain\, frogs stomp through puddles\, and mythic animals are wounded by arrow and yet remain standing. Her paintings celebrate the strange beauty of feeling deeply and surviving it. Through bold color\, humor\, and symbolic storytelling\, Becker’s work invites viewers to reconnect with imagination\, vulnerability\, and the magic hidden inside chaos. \n \nLuke Bergesth \nThe Artistic Lumberjack \nwww.theartisticlumberjack.com \n1130 Phinney Ave\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501 \nRestroom Available\, Not Handicap Accessible\, Street Parking \nAt The Artistic Lumberjack\, we specialize in crafting custom pieces. My wife and I work together—she handles a lot of the staining and finishing\, while I focus on building. We have never created the same piece twice. Although some projects may share similarities\, each one has its own unique characteristics. We love exploring new designs and\, while we might replicate a piece in the future\, every creation remains a unique expression of our craftsmanship. At The Artistic Lumberjack\, we enjoy working with exotic hardwoods from all over the world and domestic hardwoods. I have felled my own domestic hardwood trees\, like Oak and Black Ash\, milled them\, and let them air dry for around 2-3 years before working with them. We like to expand our horizons and constantly learn new ways of doing things\, even if those ways are generations old. I enjoy working with hand tools\, sharpening them by hand\, and appreciating the hard\, old-fashioned way of doing this trade and art. While we embrace modern technology\, we always seize the opportunity to use a hand plane or a cabinet scraper when we can. \n \nFern Belling \nHost: Nature’s Embrace Soap Company \n833 Washington Ave\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501 \nNo Restroom\, Handicap Accessible\, Street Parking \nAfter some years of drawing and painting in oils\, acrylics\, and pastels\, most of my current work is in watercolor\, occasionally mixed media. My watercolors are mostly of natural subjects\, birds and animals\, but include some architecture and people. I enjoy painting and drawing outside\, pleine air\, as well as in the studio. I like using a loose style\, drawing with the brush\, keeping the work transparent. \n      \n  \nAaron Ostoj \nwww.aofineart.net \nHost: Becker County Museum \n714 Summit Ave\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501 \nPublic Restroom\, Handicap Accessible\, Parking Lot \nAs an oil painter\, my desire is to create work that connects people to places\, things or activities that they love. I’ve been a lifelong artist and have a special love for the outdoors. Living in the Detroit Lakes area has given me endless inspiration to paint. From the beautiful natural landscape to pursuing sporting activities\, I have a deep connection with the environment around me\, and I hope that shows through my work. I have very little formal art training and enjoy the trial and error process that leads to discovery and growth. \n      \nCarmen Bruhn \nBruhn Fine Art \n955 Gabriel Circle\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501 \nNo Restroom\, Not Handicap Accessible\, Street Parking \nCarmen Bruhn is an award winning artist with an earnest connection to line and color\, steaming from her prior career as an architect and her rich cultural heritage in the Republic of Panama. Her artistic journey is driven by the creative process and her fertile imagination. Bruhn work has evolved over time from watercolor renditions to embrace acrylic media with an interest in experimentation and abstraction. Her love for color continues to inspire her palette\, her use of personal marks and stylized shapes continues to speak with her personal voice. When Carmen is not painting in her studio\, she loves spending time with family and friends in her current home in Detroit Lakes\, Minnesota. \n \nCari Carlson \nNoteworthy \nHost: Vintage and Vogue \n831 Washington Ave\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501 \nNo Public Restroom\, Handicap Accessible\, Street Parking \nI’ve been painting for many years\, I think watching my mother paint was what got me interested. I was hooked on watching Bob Ross painting videos and Donna Dewberry’s One Stroke Painting. My moto now is progress not perfection. I am currently in a years’ long art class taught by Ali Kay. \n      \nAndrew Sandberg \nsandbergstudio.com \nArt Materials \n811 Washington Ave\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501 \nRestroom Available\, Handicap Accessible\, Street Parking \nI’m a Minnesota-based painter and printmaker. I studied fine art at the Perpich Center for Arts Education and the University of Minnesota. My work has been featured in group exhibitions in New York\, the Twin Cities\, and Northern Minnesota. Working from observation and imagination\, I focus on the human figure\, landscape and still life. \n \nMaggie Peterson \nHost: Jollybird Studio \nGreystone Hotel\, 119 Graystone Plaza\, Suite 106\, Detroit Lakes MN 56501 \nPublic Restroom\, Handicap Accessible\, Street Parking \nMaggie Peterson is an artist who graduated from MSU Moorhead with a degree in Fine Art with an emphasis in Printmaking. She enjoys creating a wide variety of artwork with people of all ages. Maggie has created art programming with the Detroit Lakes Community Center in the Holmes Theater and The Boys and Girls Club of Detroit Lakes. She also works in the Art Department at Lakeshirts making artwork for Tshirts. She has participated in multiple art exhibitions including Hawley Art Shows\, Lakes Region Arts Council Art Shows\, New York Mills Cultural Center Shows\, and MacRostie Art Center Shows. Follow Maggie’s artwork on Instagram @maggiemay1726 \n \nDawn Duncan \nYellowbright Creative \nwww.yellowbrightinc.com \n918B Washington Avenue\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501\, USA \nPublic Restroom\, Not handicap accessible\, Street Parking \nDawn Duncan is an artist\, writer\, and creativity course facilitator. She founded Yellowbright Creative in 2012 to be a welcoming space to encourage creativity in others through teaching multiple art mediums. She is a watercolorist\, abstract acrylic painter\, and also teaches Cyanotype\, lettering\, drawing\, various crafts\, and more. She is a published children’s book author and regular facilitator of creativity and wellness retreats for women \n \nLib Evans \nHost: Yellowbright Creative \n918 Washington Avenue\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501\, USA \nPublic Restroom\, Not handicap accessible\, Street Parking \nLib is an artist originally from Langdon\, ND\, and is a longtime Detroit Lakes Resident. She enjoys working with watercolor\, acrylic\, collage\, and alcohol inks. She is a big fan of taking art classes and continuing her education. Most of the ideas of her art come to her in her dreams. \n \nScarlett Rose \nInk Velvet Archive \nhttps://inkvelvetarchive.etsy.com \nHost: Washington Square Mall\, 808 Washington Ave\, Detroit Lakes\, MN 56501 \nPublic Restroom\, Handicap Accessible\, Parking Lot \nWhat started as a hobby for my mental health during a divorce has evolved into something magical. Welcome to Ink Velvet Archive\, where books and art are transformed into luminous artifacts. Each piece is hand-embellished with rhinestones and crafted slowly\, with intention and a touch of magic. \n

The bluesman poet pulls closely from the sights and sounds around him\, his lyrical craftsmanship built by his influences. Parr has released 14 studio albums and tours legendary venues around the globe. But he hasn’t moved to LA or Nashville; he’s stayed in the cold grey north of Minnesota\, because that’s his home. \n$50 TICKET – Purchase here \nAll proceeds will benefit Diane Lundmark. In Deadrock\, Bobby falls for spunky Polly Baker\, the theatre owner’s daughter. But Polly takes an instant dislike to the city slicker\, so Bobby vows – through cunning\, razzmatazz\, and a hilarious case of mistaken identity – to win Polly’s heart and save the theatre.
