Holmes Spun Theatre 2
Celebrate 10 years of the Holmes Theatre
May 2012 marks the 10th anniversary of the opening of this theatre and after ten long years, Holmes Spun Theatre is back! To honor that we are reprising and updating the original Holmes Spun Theatre, the first show ever performed on the Holmes Theatre stage. Originally written by Mary Otto and Lynn Hummel, Holmes Spun Theatre told the tale through song, dance, truths and fables of the founding of Becker County. Holmes Spun Theatre 2 will take some of the best from the first show and add other stories that need to be told about our beautiful region.
Fact meets fiction on the stage as the history of Detroit Lakes is explored through a series of short scenes and songs with memorable (and sometimes wacky) characters. Relive a high school dance at the Holmes gym or a high school reunion at the Pavilion, be a part of a City Council meeting or help combat the latest invasive species to the local lakes. These scenes and more are featured in this show highlighting why we love it here, along with some local takes on well-known songs.
