The Dallas Brass

Since its founding in 1983 by Michael Levine, the Dallas Brass has become one of America’s foremost musical ensembles.  The group has established a unique blend of traditional brass instruments with a full complement of drums and percussion. The Dallas Brass repertoire includes classical masterpieces, Dixieland, swing, Broadway, Hollywood and patriotic music. The Dallas Brass has performed at Carnegie Hall, has shared the stage with the late Bob Hope, has appeared on the CBS “Early Show,” and their music has even been used numerous times on the television show, “The Young & The Restless!”
The Dallas Brass has a strong dedication to working with young musicians. They will spend part of their time in Detroit Lakes working with and teaching master classes to middle school and high school band students who will join them on stage for the concert.

This activity is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature from the Minnesota arts and cultural heritage fund with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008, and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

This show’s for you if…
• You love music from patriotic to swing to urban beat
• You want to take a “musical journey”
• You played brass or percussion in your high school band
